In his 1968 novel 2001: A Space Odyssey, Arthur C. Clarke described the intelligent computer HAL 9000, who opposes his human collaborators and considers his mission paramount to human life. At the end of the story, HAL 9000 even appears to have emotions.

HAL 9000 wasn’t the first vision of artificial intelligence posing a threat to humanity, but thanks to Stanley Cubrick’s film adaptation of the novel, it captured the imagination of millions.

Thirty years after Clarke’s novel debuted, the film The Matrix was released, in which artificial intelligence has taken complete control of the world and trapped humanity within a simulation.

The Matrix proved to be such a compelling story that it spawned a niche religion, Matrixism, and popularized the simulation conspiracy theory.

Should we be afraid? No. But we should be cautious. AI will not take over the world and destroy us, but our own carelessness or ignorance can cause us many problems – from data leaks, through copyright infringement, to generating harmful content or even risky behavior.

This course will help you build the ability to critically evaluate, effectively use, and ethically navigate artificial intelligence technologies in professional and personal contexts. It was created as our response to The European AI Regulation (AI Act).

Purpose of the Training

Artificial Intelligence is becoming a standard tool in many areas of work and daily life. While it offers significant opportunities, it also introduces new risks and responsibilities.

The purpose of this training is to:

  • Help you understand how AI works
  • Teach you how to use AI tools effectively
  • Develop your ability to evaluate AI-generated content
  • Raise awareness of ethical, legal, and security considerations

This course is about practical knowledge that allows you to use AI safely and confidently.

What “AI Competence” Means in Practice

AI competence does not mean knowing how to build AI systems. Instead, it means being able to use them responsibly and effectively.

In practice, this includes:

  • Understanding the strengths and limitations of AI
  • Knowing when to trust AI and when to verify its output
  • Communicating effectively with AI tools
  • Recognizing risks related to bias, privacy, and security
  • Making informed decisions when AI is involved

These are essential skills in modern workplaces.
